Travel Country: Which countries are the best in the world to travel to? is written by Jacob Gowland Jorgensen
Where can you find the world's best travel country?
Can one say that one travel country is better than another? And can you really name the best travel countries?
Fortunately, we travel very differently, because preferences, time and budget leave their mark on everyone's travel plans. Therefore, the immediate answer to the question is probably a resounding "no". And so anyway. The definition of the world's best travel country differs from person to person. But there is probably a reason for that France, Spain og USA continues to top the lists of the most visited countries in the world.
There are places you tell more about when you get home, because the combination of experiences, people, sights, food, climate and much more played extra well together. And that created those travel memories that last.
The Travel Geek Club
In the last couple of years, the travel nerd club De Berejstes Klub has been asking members about their favorites among the countries of the world. Surveys of this kind are as they are: subjective and lame on various statistical parameters. But when you ask enough people who have traveled a lot, there are some patterns. You therefore get a streak of really good offers on countries that you should at least not overlook.
Here you therefore get the favorites - first divided by continent, and finally the ultimate top 3.
Winner of Best Travel Destination in Northeast Asia: Japan
We start in Asia, where there were several clear favorites that do not necessarily match where most Danes travel to. In Northeast Asia became Japan a clear winner, and we here at the editorial office completely agree with that. It is too wild a travel country, and not necessarily as expensive as one might think.
In addition to the famous cities with their amazing food culture and wild technology, Japan can also offer snow-capped mountains and tropical beaches. On the whole, Japan is a country that offers endless travel opportunities. That it is not so easy with the language, you have to live with - or arrange yourself out of.
Winner of Best Travel Destination in Southeast Asia: Laos
The winner in Southeast Asia was not Thailand, , although it can also do a lot. No, it became the neighboring country In stock, which is often described as “Thailand as it once was, just even slower”.
Here you will find Luang Prabang, one of the most beautiful and cozy cities in Asia, and a culture where there is room for peace and contemplation. And then it can easily be combined with neighboring countries, e.g. Cambodia. Laos is one must-have, if you are in the area anyway.
Winner of Best Travel Destination in Central Asia: Iran
If we move to Central Asia, we will find one of the clearest favorites ever, namely Iran. Rarely has a country received so much bad press, and rarely have we here at the editorial office experienced greater hospitality. There are lots of classic sights in the country, a really good infrastructure, and a food culture that makes your mouth water.
However, the most important thing is the meeting with the Persians. They think it's too cool that you have come to visit their country, and are happy to help with everything possible and impossible. Without bothering or selling their aunt at the same time. Iran is a hit as a travel country.
Winner of best travel country in the Middle East: Oman
On the Arabian Peninsula and in the Middle East, it was overall Oman, who ran with the attention. A country that has preserved its traditions and at the same time is completely open to travelers.
Oman can offer beautiful nature experiences and Arabian adventures in the easy and safe way. Well yes, and then it's right next door Dubai, so it's pretty easy to combine Oman with a stopover in the city of towers. Of other places that were highlighted were i.a. Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Myanmar og Sri Lanka.
The winner of the best travel country in Northern Europe: Greenland
Greenland! Yes, of course, those who have visited our sister country will say, but there are also many Danes who have not been there, and that is a shame.
Greenland was the favorite in an otherwise strong field in Northern Europe. Here is to Iceland, Faroe Islands og Norway after all, also fantastic nature destinations in their own way. Disco Bay exudes cool travel experiences that just lie in wait, so you can safely start saving up.
Winner of best travel country in Southern Europe: France
In southern Europe, there were close rallies between classic holiday destinations, where France ended up running with the credit. You've probably been in in Paris and in Alsace, but have you been to Bayeux, Aix en Provence or Toulouse? If you have not experienced Europe's response to the Grand Canyon in Verdon, the medieval city of Carcassonne and the D-day beaches in Normandy, you have something to gain.
And then there is a reason why most fine restaurants are inspired by French cuisine. The kitchen which has many local variations depending on where you turn your taste buds. France is the most visited country in the world, and for good reason. There was also good support for it Great Britain, Russia, Czech Republic, Greece, Malta og Madeira.
The winner in North Africa: Morocco
Africa along with South America are probably the most underrated continents when it comes to travel experiences. Even in the Travelers' Club, there are a number of members who have only been to a few countries in Africa. But the news is out and there are many who are starting to look at the giant continent with new eyes. And you can safely do that.
In North Africa it was the clear favorite Morocco, which with its unique blend of cultures, colors and experiences is much more than a beach destination. Traveling from Agadir via Essaouira and up the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech is a great experience in a country that is perceived as surprisingly well organized. Plus they have a blast of a food culture that is easy to experience.
Morocco is an obvious choice for a slightly different winter trip, where flight time, budget and time zone changes should be kept to a minimum.
Winner of Best Travel Destination in West Africa: Ghana
In West Africa, there was one and only one favorite, namely the easy and safe travel country Ghana. The country, which has Danish colonial history, is an obvious choice if you are visiting West Africa for the first time, because they speak English, are friendly and there is plenty to look at. And otherwise you can also calmly look at Gambia and even Sierra Leone.
Winner of best travel country in Central Africa: São Tomé and Principe
Central Africa has traditionally been a somewhat difficult size in terms of travel. But here too there are places that are both safe and can do something extraordinary, namely the archipelago São Tomé and Príncipe, which are tropical paradise islands with a solid splash of Portuguese history.
Gabon is for you who love animal experiences, and although it is not a cheap country to travel in, you can blah. experience mandrills and lowland gorillas.
Winner of best travel country in East Africa: Ethiopia
In East Africa, there are so many obvious travel destinations that it has been a difficult choice. But Ethiopia stood out as a favorite! If you only know the country from support songs and famines, you can calmly prepare to be pleasantly surprised.
Ethiopia is a country of culture in a class of its own, and was i.a. the second country in the world to become Christian. And the only country in Africa, which was never really colonized. This is also where you will find the tribes that in less politically correct times were called plate connoisseurs, i.a. the mortars.
There are a number of unique nature experiences, including the source of the blue Nile at Lake Tana, the Simien Mountains and Danakil, which is a very extreme nature area in northern Ethiopia. The classic safari countries that Tanzania og Uganda also received good support, which we here at the editorial office can easily understand.
Travel deals Africa
The winner in South Africa: Namibia
Southern Africa had a clear favorite and it was Namibia. A huge country with few people, where mother nature in free play creates one great travel experience after another. That it can then also be combined with neighboring countries such as South Africa og Botswana does not make it less bad.
The winner in the Indian Ocean: the Seychelles
In the Indian Ocean, there are plenty of paradise islands, each in its own way, offering the traveler cool experiences. The favorite is Seychelles, and the two bangs of some traveling countries Reunion og Madagascar also deserved good support.
Winner of Best Travel Country in South America: Argentina
Classic travel countries like Peru og Brazil was beaten by the clear favorite, Argentina. Whatever you are up to, this eminent travel country delivers. You can get all the big city life you want in vibrant Buenos Aires and. The country can dish up almost every nature experience you can imagine - whether you are to penguin colonies, giant waterfalls or glaciers.
And yes, then there is also a fantastic gastronomic culture that is an attraction in itself. Argentina is an obvious first choice if you have not yet been to South America, and an equally obvious choice for a return visit.
The winner in North America: USA
USA! Yes, this huge country offers tons of travel experiences and it's just a matter of choosing which national park or city you want to visit when you travel. There is plenty of both.
You can also travel to the USA all year round, because there is always a place where the sun shines, and by the way many good ski resorts. And then the Americans are often a rather hospitable people who are happy to help and show the way. US of the A, here we come!
Winner of Best Travel Destination in Central America: Guatemala
In Central America was the favorite Guatemala. Mayan ruins, beautiful beaches and the ancient colonial cities, where Antigua is probably the star of the entire region, set the country apart positively among the many small countries down there.
Winner of best travel country in the Caribbean: Cuba
In the Caribbean, there were no countries that could compete with Cuba. The combination of a beautiful country, with interesting people and salsa in the speakers is hard to beat. And when you add a proper dose of culture and history, Cuba is one must in the Caribbean. There was also good support Saint Kitts & Nevis, Grenada and The Dominican Republic.
The winner in Oceania: New Zealand
I guess it's not really a completely fair choice to ask someone to choose from Australia og New Zealand as the best travel country. But when one now has to choose, the choice fell on New Zealand, which has everything gathered in one small country. Ingenious and an absolutely obligatory stop on a round-the-world trip.
The Pacific Ocean has a somewhat greater diversity than one can imagine, which the winners also clearly show. Galapagos (which is part of Ecuador) with its completely unique animal experiences. Vanuatu next to Australia with its very active volcano. The two are the favorites, while there was also good support for a number of other countries, including traditional Samoa.
And the winner of the world's best travel country is…
Which travel country would you choose yourself if you were only allowed to choose one? One travel country that has given you fantastic travel experiences and that you readily recommend to others when they inquire curiously about your travels. When asking the members of the Travelers' Club, this is the answer:
These were the favorites, and we here at the editorial office can only say goodbye to them. They are all five extraordinary countries in the world and if you just throw Argentina, Japan and France into the pool too, there really is something to go for.
Have a good trip, no matter what countries in the world you travel to.
