Book flights on Momondo in good time
It's always a good idea to book your flights well in advance. Because no, flights don't get cheaper the longer you wait.
It is rare for airline tickets on scheduled flights to be reduced in price close to departure time. Most airlines have a rule that those who book well in advance get the cheapest tickets. And those who book at the last minute – and perhaps have no other alternatives – are allowed to pay the most for the flight.
In this way, the airline also gets the money into the account well in advance of the flight.
However, there are exceptions. Sometimes an airline runs promotions for a short period of time. It also happens that a new airline joins a route, and this pushes prices down. This applies especially on the long flight routes.
As a rule, however, your flight tickets will only become more expensive the longer you wait.
Therefore, book as early as possible to get the biggest savings on your flight with Momondo.

Be flexible with your travel times with Momondo flight tickets
You can choose to use Momondo's overview to find cheaper tickets. You do this simply by clicking on "exact dates" in the search and instead of the exact date choose "±3 days", and then the search engine often finds cheaper alternatives.
There is often good money to be saved if you can move your trip up a day or more on the flight.
If you look at the statistics, it shows that it is cheapest to travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the most expensive travel days are often at the weekend. But it largely depends on which companies fly on the route. So the best thing is to always try to search on several different days.
The time of day is also important. If you are willing to travel in the evening, these departure times are often slightly cheaper than the earlier departures.
On Momondo, you can also select how you want to travel, so that it finds the cheapest plane tickets in the way you want to travel.
It may be that you only want direct flights, that you want a certain number of nights at the destination, or that there is an airline that you do not want to travel with. You select and deselect this in the filters in the search.
You just have to be aware that the fewer requirements you have for the flight, the cheaper a plane ticket you can find.
In short: The more filters you put on, the more expensive the flight ticket.
Search for cheap Momondo flights in a private browser, one ticket at a time
It has been seen that a plane ticket can increase in price if the same user looks at a certain plane ticket on the same website several times.
This probably applies primarily on the websites of the individual airlines, but we always recommend searching for your flight tickets on Momondo - and elsewhere - in what is called a 'private browser' if you use Safari, 'InPrivate' on Edge or 'incognito window' on Chrome.
This also applies when you have to search for a hotel for the trip, and Momondo has a really large selection of hotels – it's not just planes.
Even if you are traveling together, it is still a good idea to only search for one person at a time if you want to save money on the plane ticket.
This is because there are many different price ranges on a plane. If there are now, for example, four travellers, and there are only three of the cheapest tickets left, all four of you will get the next cheapest tickets, because you will be on the same flight class – even if there are three cheaper tickets available.
Therefore, try searching for one traveler and then for four afterwards, and see if there is a price difference.
It is of course easiest to buy all four at once if they cost the same anyway. It also makes check-in and ticket handling easier, but maybe you can get lucky and save a few thousand kroner with this little trick.

Choose the right place to buy the ticket for your journey - it pays off
Momondo is not a travel agency – it is purely an advanced search engine for flights, hotels and car rentals. Therefore, Momondo will refer you to other companies where you can buy a cheap flight ticket once you have found what you want to look into.
The companies that sell airline tickets on Momondo are quite diverse.
This is everything from the airlines themselves and Danish travel agencies to foreign online services such as Kiwi, Opodo, Travellink and many more.
There is often only a few kroner difference, and it is not certain that it will pay to buy the very cheapest foreign ones, as they have not included service in their price. So if something changes, it is often difficult and usually also costs fees.
The few extra kroner it costs to choose a well-known provider can be very well spent if you need assistance during the process. So this is not where you should save. Even if the cheapest one is at the top, it may not be the one you should click on.

Be flexible with your destinations on Momondo – and with your place of departure
The world is big and there is a lot to experience. Also in some places you hadn't thought about. Here at the editorial office, we have had some of our greatest travel experiences in cities and countries that may not be exactly at the top of the wishlist, but which can do something different than the most well-known.
It is therefore obvious not to decide on a specific destination in advance if you are now open to the possibility that your flights with Momondo can go to different places.
Prices to major cities fluctuate quite a bit. This can depend on, among other things, whether there are concerts or sporting events in the city. Certain cities are very expensive during school holidays, so check prices for several major cities during the same period if you want to get cheap flights with Momondo.
Also, be open to landing at a smaller airport or flying into one airport and out of another. You can search at several airports at the same time on Momondo. You just have to enter several in the search field, for example from Copenhagen, Billund and Hamburg to Bangkok, and then it searches at all three departure airports.
You can also search within a radius of the city, and a cheaper option may appear.
It is generally a good idea to consider several destinations in order to get the cheapest flight tickets.
Momondo also has a smart feature where you on a map can see what it costs to get to several destinations in the same period from the same departure airport. In this way, you can be inspired to new places.
Flying from a different airport than your normal airport can also provide cheaper airfares. Some Danes fly cheaper from Hamburg, for example, and there may also be cheap departures to fun places from Malmö.

Momondo flights: Search for both one-way and return tickets
The easiest way to find a trip on Momondo is to search for return tickets in the same search.
However, it sometimes pays to search for single tickets both ways instead. It may be that the airlines are finding it difficult to get rid of the one route and have therefore lowered the price.
Typically, however, it will be cheapest and easiest to search for return tickets.
If you are going far away and have time on the trip, you can also search for individual parts of your trip, and this can sometimes cut part of the price.
If the prices for e.g. Buenos Aires are very high, you can try to see if there is an offer for a return flight ticket for Brazil and then buy an extra plane ticket between Brazil and Argentina, where you will then travel a few days later.
It can be cheaper because there are then more airlines competing on the routes.
However, there are some important things you should be aware of if you buy separate tickets.
This is typically also stated on Momondo if the flights are not with the same company, for example. You may have to check in luggage en route, change airports or even worse: you may risk losing your next ticket in the event of major delays, and it will be solely your own responsibility to continue from there, in that case.

These 2 things you can NOT use Momondo for
Momondo can do a lotBut even for Momondo there are limitations. Momondo can't do everything when it comes to airline tickets and air travel.
Firstly, it can be a problem if you are going to Cuba or other places that are subject to US sanctions. Momondo is also subject to these. When you search for flights to Cuba, it may therefore appear as if there are no flights, but there are. It may also show warnings about “restricted destination”.
Better ask a Danish travel agency, who can also help with visas.
Momondo is strong on scheduled flights to all over the world. But the other challenge is that they don't necessarily include charter flights in their search. You can often buy tickets from a charter company like TUI or Condor, but they aren't necessarily included in the search. They typically have many direct flights, where you might be lucky enough to find good prices directly to your holiday paradise.
You can find some of them flight deals in our travel community.
There may also be a few, very small airlines in Africa or Asia that do not sell online and therefore do not appear on Momondo. Here you can check, for example: FlightsFrom instead and buy locally when you are on site.

Good luck finding cheap Momondo flights. Have a great trip with Momondo – wherever you go.
