Airline of the Month: Air India

Fly - AirIndia - India

Airline of the Month: Air India is written by Camilla Liv Jensen.

Air India - an obvious choice

This month's airline was a completely natural choice. Air India's direct flight route from Denmark opens up for a short travel time India , and to a lot of other destinations in the surrounding countries.

Direct from Denmark to India and surroundings

Air India is the only airline with direct routes from København to Delhi., and they regularly have really good deals.

In addition, they have a huge route network in the region, which provides obvious opportunities to visit some of India's neighboring countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka og Thailand and not least to the great country, where you can find everything from cultural gems to the most beautiful and peaceful nature.

At the editorial office, we think that it also makes sense to start the journey already on the plane. If you are now going to the Indian subcontinent, you can just as well get the colors and smiles, already when you enter the plane in Copenhagen instead of flying with, for example, a Nordic or Middle Eastern company, where you first meet the culture when you have landed .

With Star Alliance to all of India

Right now you can fly directly to Delhi from Copenhagen at really good prices. So if you are going on a winter holiday that is not north, then we can suggest a trip to India.

Air India obviously has other flights than just Delhi. Goa is a good example. Kerala with its houseboats and hills is one of India's most beautiful places, which we can also highly recommend, and with a short stop in Delhi, they fly to several places in the area, including the colonial city of Kochi.

As Air India is part of the Star Alliance, you earn bonus points for your account, which can upgrade you to a silver and gold member. Through this, you can earn a wide range of benefits that you can make use of when you are traveling with Star Alliance airlines such as SAS.

Danish connections to India for 400 years

You might immediately think that India and Denmark are very far apart on many parameters, but there has been close contact for many years. In 1618, a treaty was signed between Denmark and India, establishing an alliance between the two countries. After this, Fort Dansborg was built in Tranquebar close to the current city of Chennai, which was previously called Madras.

In 1755, the connections expanded from southern India to northern India, where the village of Serampore in Bengal near present-day Kolkata - or Calcutta - was transferred to Denmark as a colony. The colony came to be called Frederiksnagore. A Danish university was built in Serampore in 1829 and still operates today.

There is still an intensive trade between Denmark and India, and it therefore also makes good sense to have a direct flight route, which the rest of us can also benefit from.

Good trip to India

Good trip to the great fascinating country, which feels more like an entire continent. Good trip to India .
