Traveling to England? Now it is not as easy as before
If you're dreaming of a weekend trip to London or the big football holiday in the UK, it's not as easy as it used to be.
Here comes one of the kinds of travel news that you could probably be without.
Because from 2 April 2025, Danes with the beetroot-coloured passport must have a so-called ETA to travel into Great Britain - exactly as you should when traveling to the USA.
The new rules do not only apply to holidays in the UK. If you're just stopping over in the UK to get further out into the world, you'll also need an ETA.
ETA stands for Electronic Travel Authorization, and it is a pre-authorization that allows you to travel into England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It takes an average of three days to process an ETA application, so it is a good idea to be out in good time to have the application sent in good time. It costs 10 pounds - approximately 90 Danish kroner - and should it be approved, it does not guarantee you entry. You still have to go through border control when you arrive.
An ETA also does not mean unlimited entry to the UK forever. You can only be there for a limited time and it is valid for two years.
You can read more about that here.
From 5 March 2025, it will be possible for Danes to apply for an ETA to Great Britain through the UK ETA app.

Wild travel news: The world's largest plane is back at Copenhagen airport
2025 is a special year for Copenhagen Airport.
Because not only is the airport starting its 100th anniversary this year, a wild old celebrity is also returning to the runway for the first time since 2020.
With a majestic wingspan of almost 80 meters and room for more than 600 passengers, from 1 January 2025 travelers from Copenhagen Airport will again be able to experience the world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380.
It's Emirates, which has again chosen to serve Copenhagen Airport with a daily departure with the Airbus A380. The flight will depart at 14:45 and land in Dubai at 00:10 local time. At the same time, there will be a return flight with the wild double-decker passenger plane from the desert state at 08:30 with arrival in the Danish capital at 12:30 local time.
The flight to Dubai opens up a wealth of opportunities to travel the world. Dubai Airport is often used as a link between Europe and Asia, where there are endless opportunities to explore new travel destinations.
The Airbus A380 landed for the first time at Copenhagen Airport in December 2015, after the airport had to rebuild a gate in the C-finger and expand the runway to make room for the huge plane. When the corona shutdown in 2020 put air traffic on hold, a temporary stop was also put to the departure with the Airbus A380, which was then also operated by Emirates.
