Five cool holiday tips for more vacations is written by Sascha Meineche.
More holidays, thank you!
Do you not think there are enough holidays out of the 52 long weeks the year offers? Then we are fortunately more than one who feels this way. I'm aware that there are the lucky ones with many weeks of vacation annually, but there are also us other regular five-week vacation types who the heck would like more.
I have tried to give my opinion on how you can get a little more holiday incorporated in your life - it may not work for everyone, but you do not get hurt by being inspired.
Use all the glorious holidays that come in 2020. There are as many as 12 of these, and even though it is a single smaller than in 2019, it is not completely bad.
And yes, now I assume that you are one of those who have one of the "ordinary" jobs, where you usually have time off on weekends and holidays and thus not one of those who save our others' lives in important jobs .
Everything does not have to be about how far away you can get in the shortest time. You can take absolutely superb trips on the weekends where you actually do not have to take time off at all. There are so many fantastic opportunities to fly out of Denmark - from both Jutland and Zealand - so leave on Friday and come home again on Sunday evening.
And yes, if you want to save a little on the airline front, then there are also great opportunities to take trains. And Europe is amazing; you do not always have to go to South America or Asia to have a great vacation.
Working 9 to 5 - and then a little more
If your workplace allows it, you can take advantage of extra work for a period of time. Either it gives you time off that you can use when you go on holiday, or you will probably be paid a nice extra amount of money that can go directly into your travel account. Of course, this requires you to take overtime for your employer.
Divide your vacation
I myself love a long continuous summer holiday, and many employers want you to take time off for longer at a time. But if you are one of those who have to decide for yourself, then it may be a good idea to spread out your holiday a bit.
I'm aware that you have the same number of weeks to do well with, but it can easily seem as if you have more holidays if you have the opportunity to go 3 times a year rather than once a holiday during the summer holidays. .
Then you also get a plus on the vitamin D account several times a year - if you travel to sunny destinations, of course.
If you really want to travel, ask your employer really nicely. If you have spent all your holiday, you must of course be aware that it is a self-payment, but it can also be something if you really want to travel.
Otherwise, it is in a way win-win for them that they just save a few weeks' salary if the work is done anyway. And if you are again one of the lucky ones who has a sixth holiday week, then ask nicely if it can be carried over to the next holiday year. This way you can save more holidays together or get it paid out so you can create a holiday account yourself.
Have a good holiday - and remember to get more out of it!
