Great holiday for the whole family

Whether you are the type who just enjoys going for a walk with the family, or whether you are an experienced hiker with a penchant for outdoor, then Kystlandet has a hiking route for you. Alternating and magnificent nature, mainland routes and ear routes, footpaths, mountaineering or along historic railway tracks - The coastal country has something for every taste and every shape.

In the heart of Denmark just south of Aarhus do you find The coastal country, which unites beautifully and beautifully Odder, Horsens og Hedensted municipalities. With Denmark's highest mountains and the country's only real river, Jutland largest lake, historical monuments in the middle of nature and some of the kingdom's most beautiful and accessible coastlines, the Coastal Country is the perfect destination for hikers. And a bit of an undiscovered gem.

Kattegat - sea - holiday

uforgettable holiday in the Coast

As a hiker, you are guaranteed to have heard of Camino, the long pilgrimage route ending in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. On End low, which has just been named Ø 2020/21 of the Year, you can in turn go on The rabbit.

The route, named after the island's characteristics, the thousands of wild rabbits, is a 21 km long (na) tour de force around the 'rabbit island' in the middle of Denmark, where - in addition to a rich wildlife and the very special island idyll - magnificent views of the Kattegat await you

As a hiker is the route Tunø around an absolute must on the bucket list - especially due to the island's popular treasure hunt, where children and childish souls eventually receive the Tunø medal for their exploits.

In just 8 kilometers, you will experience on Tunø the best of Danish nature in mini format. On the small car-free Kattegat island only an hour's sailing from Hou, you are guaranteed an idyllic and authentic island atmosphere with varied terrain. Due to the island's slightly special climate, there are mulberry trees and large fig bushes, but also heather-clad heath, fairytale forest areas, field landscape and dramatic cliffs - with the opportunity to see both seals, guinea pigs and the rare alpine bird tea.

Along the dramatic east coast of Jutland

From the small pleasant port town of Snaptun to the East Jutland holiday mecca Christmas memory sneaks the hiking trail Coastal stone through the landscape. The 21-kilometer route leads the easily-trained to experienced hikers past manors, Palsgaard Castle, abandoned cannons and fortifications from the Swedish Wars, deep beech forest and spotted heathland, beautiful fields and the Coastland's most dramatic coastline.

If you want more east coast hiking, the stretches north of Horsens Fjord are at least as good as the Coastal Path to the south. A network of smaller routes intertwines with the road network and makes it possible to lace up your hiking boots in Hou and walk along Saksild Bay to the small idyllic Norsminde Fjord. If you take the stretch in one go, you can look forward to about 14 kilometers along some of East Jutland's most child - friendly beaches.

In the southern part of Søhøjlandet is Denmark's peak: Bakkelandet, where both Yding Skovhøj, Ejer Bavnehøj, Himmelbjerget and Sukkertoppen thunder up to the sky. Gudenåstien from Voervadsbro to Emborg takes you on a magnificent 17 kilometer long route through landscape, we usually have to go further up in Scandinavia to find.

Two highlights on the route are Sukkertoppen and Klostermølle, where you climb the 'mountain' in a few kilometers with a beautiful view of Denmark's fourth largest lake Mossø, and then lead down to the beautifully preserved Benedictine monastery from 1536 by the river Gudenåen.

The railway paths - on the trail of history through the Coastland

From Horsens you can leave along the old railway tracks towards either Silkeborg or Odder. Both routes are some of the most beautiful in Denmark and let you see how nature has reclaimed its place, where the industry of the past used to cut through the landscape.

On the 60 kilometer long, paved and bicycle-friendly Nature Trail Horsens-Silkeborg - also known as Bryrupbanestien - you see especially the contrast between then and now at the sights Den Genfundne Bro and Veteranbanen Bryrup-Vrads.

On the railway path from Horsens to Odder, the contrast between past and present is drawn even harder: Along 36 kilometers of primarily forest and footpaths, nature along the coast alternates between beautiful agricultural landscape with magnificent mansions, sporadic forest cathedrals and small villages from the railway's buzzing heyday - now under buzzing windmills .
