The estate's six-kilometer-long climbing park is fun for the whole family. The park's highest point is 28 meters, and there are courses for children as young as four years old.

The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde offers a completely unique look into the past from the time when we in Scandinavia were Vikings.

Here you can get up close to 1000-year-old ships that helped shape the Nordic countries as we know them today. You can take guided tours of the museum and use your senses in the various workshops.

And Roskilde has more to offer when it comes to activities during the winter holidays. You can easily take a stroll past the city's enormous cathedral, which is not far from the Viking Ship Museum.

The castle is open again as usual from 8 am to 10 pm in week 16, with the castle's museums and surroundings offering exciting activities during the winter holidays.

If you just want to throw in a little fun fact about Egeskov Castle, you can tell the family that in Hokkaido in Japan has built a faithful replica of Egeskov Castle, which functions as a large aquarium and zoo.

The Old Town in Aarhus is an obvious option when you are looking for activities during the winter holidays.

Enjoy nature during your winter vacation

There are a multitude of zoos around the country that offer beautiful nature and an opportunity for the whole family to get up close to forest animals when you are on a winter holiday in Denmark.

Marselisborg Deer Park in Aarhus, Jægersborg Deer Park north of København and the Deer Park in Nørreskoven near Vejle are some of the largest in the country, where the family can go out for a quick walk for free, while deer and other animals walk closely around you.

If you are more into wild horses, you can go to the southernmost tip of Langeland in the area around Dovns Klint. Here you can experience the area's wild horses galloping over the round hills along the coast.

If you are in the Copenhagen area and have been to Jægersborg Dyrehave, it is not far to Sydhavnstippen and an animal that you don't normally see in Denmark.

Here, alpacas roam among the sheep grazing in the area.

You can also hunt trolls in the wild – it's a sure hit.

Build like a world-renowned architect

All the way to the Limfjord in Aalborg is the Utzon Center, which is named after the world-renowned architect Jørn Utzon, the man behind the opera house in Sydney i Australia.

The Utzon Center offers fun activities where both adults and children with a little architect in their belly can join in. During the winter holidays in weeks 7 and 8, the center will have a workshop built around LEGO, where you can build and work in modules – exactly like Jørn Utzon did.

In addition to workshops, the center also offers architectural and artistic exhibitions that can entertain the whole family.

Utzon Center is open every day except Monday from 11 am to 17 pm. On Thursdays, however, it is open until 21 pm.
