When autumn really sets in, and the nights get longer and darker, it's time for fun - but also a little spooky. So if you're bored at the airport while waiting for your next flight, it can be hard to pass the time. Especially when you know there are cooler ways to celebrate Halloween. Read how right here.

Autumn offers many experiences – from forest walks under the changing colors of the trees to coziness indoors when the rain picks up speed. But while it can be fun to play on your mobile in the glow of candles, you can also go on Halloween-inspired trips. Several countries around the world make more and more of Halloween and decorate with beautiful and scary decorations. Because October is the month when the pumpkin heads are lit and the monsters come out when darkness falls.

In October, it's time for (un)comfort

There is almost no more fun (or scarier) season than Halloween. The cities are decorated with large pumpkins and ghosts, and in some places you might even come across markets where you can warm yourself with cocoa and find great costumes. And although the United States is probably one of the most Halloween-happy countries, you can easily find the horror closer. Europe and the rest of the world have a lot to offer when it comes to haunted places, Halloween markets and hair-raising experiences.

But no matter where you are, you can take the Halloween atmosphere with you on your mobile. While you're waiting at the airport or after you've settled into your hotel, you can try Halloween-themed games at various online casinos, such as those found at legalcasino.dk. Please note, however, that the Halloween games are only available in the month of October.

Travel destinations that get you in the Halloween mood

There are many places out in the world that make a big deal out of Halloween, both in the form of markets, scary events and cultural traditions. Here are some of the most interesting destinations where you can experience thrills, fun and everything in between.

Dracula's home in Transylvania

You no doubt know Dracula and all the spooky tales. Therefore, Transylvania is an obvious place to travel to. Here you can visit Bran Castle, which is said to have inspired Bram Stoker's classic about Dracula. When you see the castle, you will immediately be sucked in by the Gothic style. Romania also makes a lot of Halloween, which is celebrated with party and colors. You can experience everything from tours to haunted places to spooky meals at selected hotels.

Creepy Europe

If you don't want to spend too much time on the plane, you can travel to Berlin, where you will find a lot of different Halloween events. Among other things, they transform a disused factory into a creepy nightclub. Further away from the German metropolis, there is also a Celtic village at Donnersberg. Here you can experience a real harvest festival, which they call Samhain, which they celebrate with bonfires and fun.

Similar experiences can be found in England, where castles such as Alnwick Castle and Warwick Castle are known for their Halloween themes with actors playing ghosts and monsters. They combine history and horror – perfect for travelers who want a different kind of adventure.

Horror in the USA

If you're the type of person who loves a good scare and big theme parks, the US is the place. Both Universal Studios and Disneyland transform into haunted horror parks where nothing is as usual. Here, the rides and various events get a good layer of creepiness, which is suitable for both children and adults. At Universal Studios, during their Halloween Horror Nights, you can visit haunted houses and other Scare Zones, as they call it. For example, they have a ride that you have to move through without making a light, which is inspired by the movies A Quiet Place.

Day of the Dead in Mexico

Although Halloween is typically associated with the United States, Mexico also has an exciting and different celebration: Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead in Danish. It is not Halloween as such, but a day when it is believed that the boundary between the spirit world and the real world dissolves. The celebration takes place from 31 October to 2 November. Perhaps you have seen pictures of how they dress on the day, on social media or in the movie Coco, which is heavily inspired by this day. The day is celebrated with parades and parties and is not meant to be a day to scare each other, but a day to celebrate life and death. It's something you'll have to experience if you get the chance.

(Un)pleasant entertainment for Halloween

Halloween is not all about pumpkins and ghosts; it is also a perfect occasion to gather with friends and family and make memories. Autumn is a very special time to travel, as you get to experience the many local traditions and celebrations.

Whether it is a weekend trip to a big city or to a place where Halloween is celebrated with style, it is a time that contains more than just sun, beach and shopping. So pack your suitcase, get ready for (un)pleasant experiences, and let autumn be filled with thrills and excitement.
